Dave Matthews Concert in Charleston

I have had tickets for this since around April. Turns out this bad boy was sold out, I can't say I was shocked but I wasn't sure if Dave was still consistently selling out his concerts.

I heard from a few people that tickets were going on sale on ebay for hundreds of dollars, crazy. Nevertheless, it was at the Charleston Riverdogs stadium which isn't far from my girlfriends place so it worked out really well. As for the whole experience, .... awesomeeee ... Of course we wanted to tail gate before we went into the concert. To my surprise, there were signs stating "No open container" everywhere around the stadium. I'm still not 100% what this law means but what it means to ME, is that to drink your beer out of solo cups and don't show off your cans/bottle, ha! My thoughts were that no one was supposed to have beer at all during the concert, ah..

The show was great, every song played I was aware of, unlike a few past concerts. Here is the set list:

  • Seek Up

  • Old Dirt Hill

  • Best of Whats Around

  • Crush

  • You Might Die Trying

  • #41

  • Everyday

  • Corn Bread

  • Sail Away

  • Sledgehammer

  • Ants Marching

  • Sister

  • So Damn Lucky

  • Louisiana Bayou

  • Crash Into Me

  • So Much To Say

  • Anyone Seen The Bridge

  • Too Much

  • Hey Hey My My (Into the Black)

  • Tripping Billies

A more important note, guess who else was playing with DMB, mr Tim Reynolds him self! He was playing electric the whole show and it was pretty wild. I still really want to see a show with only him and Dave playing. So what was the neatest song of the night? In my opinion, this Neil Young Cover of "Hey Hey My My" was my favorite, here is the same cover from a different concert:

Wanted Movie Review

In a last minute decision to go to the movies this past Friday, I went with a group of friends to see wanted. I had seen the previews with the curving bullets, sports cars, and of course Angelina Jolie.
The movie started with a day in the life of the main character in the movie who works as an accountant which he hates and has a girlfriend who cheats on him with his so called best friend. The character is too big of a loser to say anything about it. Long story short, Jolie and a group called the Fraternity find him and the action starts there.
It was a pretty good action movie with a good twist about 3/4 of the way through the movie.
I'm giving this a 3/5

Electric not for me..?

About 2 years ago, I got a Tom Delonge Fender Stratocaster from my uncle. He is primarily a blue grass guitar player who sticks with acoustic stuff. Well I guess he decided to try out the world of blues/electric riffs. Long story short back when I was at the height of my guitar interest, he just gave it to me.

Until recently, I never had an amp for it but for my birthday last year (big 2-2) I invested in a VOX AD50VT Valvetronix amp. The main thing I was shopping for was a tube amp for a reasonable price.

After playing the strat I have found that making the transition from acoustic to electric has been more frustrating that I had imagined. I assumed that since acoustic guitars generally have higher action and more string tension that jumping on the electric train would be easier. Not so much, I learned that a lot of the songs and jams I enjoy so much on acoustic either aren't as fun on electric or just don't have that tone that I am used to enjoying from acoustic.

So what to do? keep pushing through the frustration..?

nah, for now I am going to get back on what got me started into this hobby, acoustic guitar.

Trying out the google blogging tool.

As some of you know, I used to keep my site, www.ajleroy.com, updated fairly regularly but since I am doing of a lot of web development at my job currently, I don't have the desire to write my own blogging/cms system.

I would like to keep this updated regularly and post stuff going on with me, friends and family.

Let's see how this goes.
